Course Summary
Graphic Design A-Level teaches you the principles of this fascinating subject and its impact on our culture and industry. You will learn practical skills in editing, image manipulation, and traditional and digital illustration and master a range of new techniques and processes to create visually engaging design work.
Course Details
This exciting two-year course will give you a thorough introduction to graphic design. The average adult sees over 3,000 marketing ads per day. These come in various forms, such as billboard posters, newspaper ads, business cards, web banners, food packaging, the list is endless.
Throughout the course, we will help you understand the principles of this fascinating subject and teach you how to create effective design campaigns.
You will do this by developing your skills in editing, image manipulation, traditional and digital drawing techniques, and illustration techniques. You will also learn how to develop your ideas, experiment with a range of materials, and master a range of new techniques and processes.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed on your ability to develop ideas, experiment with relevant materials, techniques and processes, and present a personal, informed and meaningful response to subject briefs.
Entry requirements
Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply: A GCSE grade 4 in an Art related subject.

Once you have completed this course, you could progress onto our Foundation Diploma in Art & Design or start our BA (Hons) Visual Communication: Graphic Design degree course at the University Centre Hastings.
Once you have finished your studies, you'll be ready to start your career as a graphic designer working in an agency or in-house.
