Dance National Foundation Diploma

During this course, you will gain a detailed understanding of all aspects of the dance world. This course will allow you to develop your skills within a wide range of dance styles and techniques, including your choreographic skill. You will also gain an insight into the dance industry and the various job roles that are on offer. This qualification forms an excellent foundation for the study of dance at a higher level.

This qualification is designed for students with a substantial dance background. Students are required to: choreograph, perform, participate in dance technique classes, analyse professional choreographers and their work (which includes observational dance trips and workshops), and examine the dance industry highlighting various options for further dance education. You must be prepared to submit written assignments as this is an essential element of the course.

Whilst taking the Dance National Foundation Diploma course, you will also have the opportunity to take part in dance companies run within the College and workshops run by professional dance companies, to enhance your dance technique and performance.

At least five GCSEs graded 9-5 including Dance and English at grade 4 or above and/or other substantial Dance experience or examinations.

This qualification will aid entrance to university to study Dance and opens the door for careers such as dance teaching, performing, choreography, and critical analysis.
