Course Summary
Pearson BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts (Dance focus)
This course offers you the opportunity to develop your technical skills in a variety of different dance styles as well as develop your performance techniques as a dance practitioner. You will also learn the theory that underpins your practice from choreography to anatomy in order to make you an all rounded practitioner for the dance industry.
Course Details
Students will complete three mandatory units: Investigating Practitioner’s Work, Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance and Group Performance Workshop. In addition students will be guided to complete one optional unit which could focus on Jazz, Street or Contemporary Dance Technique.
How will I learn?
You will learn through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques such as practical performance workshops, seminar style discussion and independent research tasks.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Learners will be assessed through a combination of tasks set and marked externally which are completed under supervised conditions and internally assessed performances and dance showcases.
Entry requirements
Experience in Dance is necessary and a commitment to developing your own practice is needed. A willingness to learn and to be open to new ideas and styles of Dance is required to succeed in the course.
Students need either a minimum of a 5 in GCSE Dance or a Merit in BTEC Level 2 Award or previous dance training to advance on this course.
