Course Details
What does this qualification cover? In Year 1, students study the core digital subjects. They learn the basics of programming, data, digital systems, cyber security, business context, digital laws, and new and emerging technologies. This helps students understand how digital systems are created and used in real organisations.
In Year 2, students specialise in Digital Software Development. They learn how to understand user needs, design and build software, test and improve their work, and maintain existing systems. Students also develop teamwork skills, ethical awareness, and professional behaviours needed in the digital industry.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is taught through practical lessons, coding projects, problem-solving tasks, and real workplace experience. It prepares students to move on to university, higher apprenticeships, or entry-level jobs in the growing digital and technology sector.
All assessments are externally set and marked by Pearson. Students will complete four assessment components over two years:
Two externally assessed written exams covering core digital knowledge One employer-set project assessing applied technical skills One occupational specialism project in Digital Software Development, completed in Year 2
