Course Summary
A level Computer Science provides students with a deep understanding of the theories that underpin the functions of modern computing.
Students will learn computation concepts enabling the creation of algorithms to solve complex problems. They will also understand the structures and systems that enable Computer systems to be created and consequences of those Computing Systems on our society.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
There are two examinations at the end of the A level each worth 40% and one Non-exam Assessment worth 20%.
1. On screen exam for 2 hours 30 mins testing understanding of subject content and programming.
2. Paper based exam 2 hours 30 mins testing understanding of subject content
3. Non Examined assessment testing a students ability to solve a practical problem.
Entry requirements
Students will require a grade 6 at GCSE Computer Science, along with a grade 5 at GCSE Maths.
