How is this qualification structured? In order to achieve the Level 2/3 Award in Childcare and Education learners must achieve a pass grade D or above in the unit assessments for 2 mandatory units.
Unit 1 - Child development from conception to seven years
Unit 2 - Children’s health and well-being
Work Experience: We believe strongly in giving our students real life experiences with which they can use to inform their coursework and make their learning more meaningful. Students will therefore undertake approximately 120 hours of work experience over the 1 year period. This will be carried out in block placements in a variety of settings including childminders, nurseries and primary schools.
Fees - For the Level 2/3 course there is a materials fee of £40 which will be for their Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) for work placements. This will need to be paid on registration so we can gain your DBS promptly. Bursary Funding is available in the Sixth Form and can offer support to help payment of these material fees.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. Knowledge based outcomes can be assessed through various assessment methods. Skills based outcomes must be achieved in a real work environment and will include direct observation within the workplace by your teacher.
