Entry Requirements: - Students wishing to study 3 Level 3 courses will be required to achieve 5+ GCSEs at grade 5 and above including English and Mathematics. However, some subjects have additional requirements in terms of the grades required. The Marsh Academy operates a sliding scale of qualifications which are outlined on the Marsh Academy website. There is scope for students to study 2 Level 3 subjects and also studying some Level 2 subjects. Students who wish to study two subjects must have attained 4+GCSEs at grade 5 or above.

Course Summary
During their studies, learners develop art and design projects and gain an understanding of the creative process. They study visual recording and communication, critical analysis and production skills to produce art and design outcomes. It is designed for post-16 learners who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment, possibly in the creative industries.
Course Details
This course is equivalent in size to two A Levels. 8 units, of which 6 are mandatory and 2 are externally assessed. Students will study units which cover visual recording and information, critical contextual studies in art and design and the development of the creative process as well as materials, techniques and processes in art and design, developing an art and design portfolio and developing and realising creative intentions. Students will also study two more units which will be decided by the teacher and students.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Component 1: Creative Practice in Art and Design
Component 2: Responding to a Client Brief Learners also develop skills and knowledge through an optional unit in a specific area such as graphics, photography, 3D studies, textiles, or fine art.
Entry requirements
Level 2 Art & Design at grade 5+ or a visual portfolio submitted in addition to published entry requirements for Level 3 study.

Possible future career paths might include fine artist, sculptor, architect, graphic designer, marketing/ advertising and packaging, interior designer, theatre set designer, jewellery designer, furniture designer and much more.
