Course Summary
Studying Fine Art will introduce you to traditional and up-to-date skills so you can work with knowledge and confidence. You will enhance your technical abilities in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture while you experiment to produce original work and achieve success.
Course Details
We look at art to understand how people have lived in other cultures and at other times. We also use Fine Art to explain to ourselves what is new and different in the world now. During this course, we help you see how artists have created new visions through their skills with practical work. The best start for experimentation comes through confidence. You will gain confidence from the success you get with your work. Your practical work will show what you can do with what you have learned. Each piece will be a step forward. We teach you the skills that you can apply to your original work so you can go on to achieve success. We take you through the whole project process. Planning your work from first ideas and research, through experimentation and development, and on to highly achieved final pieces. On the way, sketchbooks record your thoughts and development. You apply what you learn from looking at art and using techniques in new ways. Your work comes from what you do and what you bring to the course.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be set regular assignments and projects that will create identified assessment points. These will feed into your progress profile which drives the College Report process and compares you to your Target Minimum Grade which is based on your prior achievements at GCSE level. It also enables us to effectively measure your development and make estimated grade predictions. This continuous assessment then directs our guidance and support ensuring that your individual learning programme meets your needs.
