Course Summary

Roger Ebert once said that Movies are like a machine that generates empathy. If you study with us, you'll be able to explore the power that films have over the spectator and the impact cinema has had on the world. Film Studies is a fantastic course that combines thinkling about films with enjoying them.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This course is assessed by 30% coursework and 70% examinations.

Your next steps...

This course can provide a pathway to employment or as a foundation for a more specialised study of film or media at university. Students often go on to study film production at university, and there are lots of excellent Film Studies degrees, too. Of course, you may use this course as a way to improve and strengthen your personal interest in film and not see it as a career option at all. If you come on this course, you will make progress on your own individual route forward, whether that takes you to a change in career or just furthers your sense of personal interest and satisfaction.
