British Sign Language Level 1

This course aims to enable students to communicate with deaf people about familiar day-to-day topics and activities. It is for students with little or no knowledge of British Sign Language and aims to cover understanding and use a limited range of simple words and sentences. Learners will take part in simple, predictable conversations and give and follow simple directions or instructions in BSL. This is an exam based course. By the end of the course you will be able to give and follow familiar statements or descriptions and be able to communicate using BSL at a basic level. Please bring a pen and paper. Tutor:TBC

All 3 BSL units are assessed via a 4/5 minutes conversation that will be filmed for assessment and quality assurance purposes.

Pre level 2 Sign Language or if after successful signing assessment straight to the Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language.
