There are a few small extra costs associated with this course, as you will need to pay a small fee for your UCAS application to universities, and you may wish to buy some textbooks relating to the A-Level Science syllabus.

Course Summary

Our Nursing and Healthcare Professions Access course prepares you for degree-level study in a variety of Science-related degree courses. You will study Science and Social Sciences units and develop your research skills, ready for your degree. The people who come onto Access courses often feel they did not fulfil their potential at school. They may have spent many years in unsatisfying work, been at home looking after children or have otherwise been in a situation where they have needed to take a decision about bringing about a change in their lives. What they all do have in common is a thirst for knowledge and a desire to carry on with their education

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed by essays, reports, textual analysis, seminar presentations and examinations. You will also submit assignments for each subject unit and complete coursework in the core units. You will also submit a 5,000-word research project on a subject of your choice, which will form a major part of the overall assessment.

Entry requirements

You must hold GCSE English or Maths at C /4 or above and retake the other alongside the Access course if you dont have both.

Your next steps...

Once you have finished this course, you can progress onto healthcare-related degree courses at universities across the country. Many of our students go on to local universities, such as the University of Sussex, Brighton and Chichester (guaranteed interviews and guaranteed places are offered for some courses at these universities through the Compact programme).
