Horticulture training, wellbeing and work experience.
Connecting with nature can reduce feelings of anxiety and stress, boost mood and increase energy levels. Our free training course combines wellbeing in nature activities with an accredited level 1 certificate in Horticulture from Plumpton College, as well as work experience with land management employers. Training is in local public spaces in East Sussex. You will build confidence and skills, as well as get the chance to try out a career in Land Management, which could lead to employment or further training.
Who is the course for?
This course is for residents of temporary/emergency/supported or refuge accommodation, or those at-risk of homelessness.
Courses are 10 hours per week, over 2 days for 8-10 weeks. Plumpton College provide the training and qualification, and mentoring is provided by Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA). New groups starting every 10 weeks.
How to book
Clients should be referred by a support provider, such as a key worker or accommodation manager.
Clients who have completed this programme have reported improved wellbeing, confidence and skills, and felt ready to progress into employment or training.
